Description: This variety of Lavender grows to about 1 meter in height and produces long, thin, purple-blue flowers. The entire plant is covered with oil glands, which are in the star shaped hairs that cover the plant.

Common Use: Lavender's scent has a calming effect which aids in relaxation and the reduction of stress and anxiety. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn, prevent infection, and promote rapid healing. It can be used with massage oils to effectively relieve joint and muscle pain. Lavender is credited with being an analgesic, anti-convulsive, anti-depressant, anti-phlogistic, anti-rheumatic, anti-septic, anti-spasmodic, anti-viral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deordorant, and as a diuretic.
Aroma/Aromatic Scent: Strong/Fresh, sweet, floral, & herbaceous.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Pine, Tangerine, Thyme, Rosemary, Rosewood, and Ylang Ylang.

History: Used since ancient times as such for it’s perfume as for it’s medicinal properties. Romans added Lavender to their bath water, hence the name derived from the word “to wash” Lavare.
Cautions: Avoid high doses during pregnancy because it is a uterine stimulant.
